ICE Operation “Metro Surge” In Minnesota, Makes Youth Frightened To Go To School & Work, Creating Greater Number of Disconnected Youth

Reaching At Promise Association (RAPSA) launches campaign to support disconnected students in Minnesota due to recent ICE Raids.

As ICE unleashes terror in Minnesota, students throughout the state are avoiding school—severely accelerating disconnection rates. In response to this turmoil, RAPSA has launched a national campaign to provide the following essentials so that students can engage in virtual learning and minimize their interaction with federal enforcement:

  • digital devices
  • internet hotspots
  • nutrition
  • transportation
  • other vital essentials

Please watch the following, curated YouTube playlist with testimonies from students, parents and educators that illustrate how these ICE raids have disrupted youth education and safety. Please check back for additions to this playlist.

Recent federal enforcement actions have heightened fear and instability, creating emotional and psychological barriers that threaten to disrupt the education of our most vulnerable students. Now more than ever, our students require consistency, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to their well-being from the entire At- Promise and Alternative Accountability education community nationwide.

Donations will support students throughout the state and those specifically served by RAPSA’s Minnesota partner:

New Ways to Work

For over five decades, New Ways to Work has effectively provided technical assistance and capacity building with people and organizations across the country to help communities better prepare youth and young adults for bright futures. New Ways draws on a history of building systems that support transitions for the economically disadvantaged, those in foster care or engaged in the criminal justice system, those with disabilities or those who are simply out-of-work and out-of-school and need better opportunities to succeed.
