SAVE THE DATE! Foster Youth Career Development and Employment Summit

On January 8th and 9th, 2008, California will hold its first Foster Youth Career Development and Employment Summit. This event will bring together representatives from all systems that touch the lives of foster youth. You are invited to join California foster youth, policy makers, and leaders from Child Welfare, Juvenile Justice, Education, Workforce Development, the Private Sector, Labor, and Philanthropy to develop integrated strategies that improve foster youth career development and employment outcomes.

2007 Foster Youth Focus Series

New Ways to Work, in partnership with Casey Family Programs, is sponsoring the 2007 Foster Youth Focus Series to discuss strategies for creating better employment outcomes for foster youth and to discuss policy that would better support cross-system collaboration between workforce, education, juvenile justice, and child welfare systems.

Benefits of Participation in the Focus Series

• Participating counties will be the first to learn about innovative strategies that support foster youth as they transition into adulthood and to learn about successful cross-system collaborations.
• The Focus Series will highlight the efforts of the participating teams and will lead to a fall summit focused on foster youth employment and legislative hearing.
