Local Youth Councils, Workforce Boards, and Partners Discuss Strategies and Challenges

The Youth Council Institute (YCi) sponsored a series of Regional YCi Forums across the state during the months of June - August, 2005. The purpose of the Forums was to discuss state and federal direction and legislation affecting workforce programs for youth with youth service leaders and providers within local communities. Participants discuss their needs and strategies towards continuing to build comprehensive youth-serving systems in the current changing environment. Communities also discussed strategies for partnering across systems with a focus on the “neediest youth.” The following topics were discussed during the forums:

• DOL’s New Strategic Vision for Youth
• WIA Reauthorization and the DOL's Common Measures
• California’s Strategic Two-year Plan

YCi staff collected feedback from all six regional YCi Forums and summarized it into a packet of information submitted to the State Board (CWIB). The following information is what was presented on behalf of YCi to the CWIB:
